Director of NextGen Ministries | Chaska

Christ Victorious Lutheran Church is seeking a Director of NextGen Ministries.

The Director of NextGen (Next Generation) Ministries must be committed to Christ and the growth of his kingdom. This position will serve as the spiritual leader and role model for Christ Victorious Lutheran Church (CVLC) youth from 6-12 grade and the various leaders serving within the NextGen ministry. The position is part-time with the expectation of 25 hours/week.

The person in this position must be well grounded in the Word of God, as well as Lutheran/Christian theology. This position is responsible for overseeing the growth, development, and discipleship of 6-12 grade youth at CVLC. The Director of NextGen Ministries will facilitate relational connections and spiritual growth of CVLC youth through weekly gatherings, groups, leadership teams, and special events. This position requires the ability to work well in team ministry with the staff of CVLC and the ability to build successful teams among the members and servant leaders of the church. This person must demonstrate good listening skills and have a warm and welcoming personality.

Supervisor: Senior Pastor

Supervises: All programs, personnel, and volunteers assigned to NextGen Ministries from grades 6-12.

Term of Employment: This position is considered “at will” in nature, which means that either you or CVLC may terminate employment at any time, with or without cause or notice.

MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Ministry (Grades 6-12)
• In all things – seek to connect youth to Jesus.
• Shepherd, teach, counsel and befriend the youth of the church.
• Be a visionary in the area of student ministry and help the vision become realized through planning, action, and utilizing the members of CVLC.
• Recruit, supervise, train and mentor adult Student ministry volunteers.
• Collaborate with pastoral team for Confirmation ministry (curriculum, teaching, and execution)
• Provide ministry and support to the parents and families of youth.
• Organize events (e.g. retreats, youth gatherings, servant events, mission trips, etc.) that foster continual spiritual growth in holistic discipleship
• Support students’ discipleship formation within the church and in their roles within the wider community.
• Increase the role of small groups in youth ministry.

PERSONAL MINISTRY:
• Maintain and grow in a life that embodies what it means to follow Jesus - worship, fellowship, and service to others and the community, thereby being a living example for others in the CVLC family to imitate.
• Professional growth is expected through participation in conferences, workshops and other professional training events. Approval for attendance and funding for these events is at the discretion of the Senior Pastor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
• A passion for next generation youth and their parents displayed through building relationships and investing in their lives.
• Willingness to embrace and adapt to growth, change, innovation, and creativity
• On-going growth as a disciple of Jesus and Christian maturity.
• Ability to teach the Word of God to youth in relatable and relevant ways.
• Relates to the experiences, thoughts, and mindset of middle school and high school youth.
• Facilitates effective and engaging group interaction and dialogue.
• Effective communication in writing and in person
• Competent use of technology, social media, and electronic communication platforms to connect with students and their families.
• Ability to recruit and effectively engage church members who volunteer to serve.
• Shows unquestioned integrity and trustworthiness with confidential and sensitive information.
• Must understand, embrace, and practice team ministry with the CVLC Team.
• Must be a self-starter and demonstrate a highly motivated attitude.
• Must be a member or become a member of Christ Victorious Lutheran Church.
Preferred
• Certification or ordination in the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.
• Two or more years of experience in church ministry.
• Two or more years of experience working with youth.
• Experience in supervising personnel and volunteer leaders.

PAY AND BENEFITS
• The hourly rate of pay is $25.
• The expectation is that you will work 25 hours per week. This position is considered a non-exempt salary role and is eligible for overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 hours.
• Earned Safe & Sick Time (ESST) is earned based on hours worked throughout the year.
