Learn more about our endowment funds

Minnesota South District Endowment Fund: The interest from this fund will provide financial assistance for ministry opportunities, which the District is not aware of at this time. It will also provide a way in which individuals can gift money to the Endowment fund without restricting it for any specific purpose.

New Mission Congregation Endowment Fund: The interest from this fund will cover the costs of starting new congregations. Such costs may include, but are not limited to, the purchase of land, assistance in making mortgage payments on loans to provide worship and educational space, to provide pastoral care, and to assist with all other operating costs of a congregation. Notable gift landmarks: $100,000 of interest income provides support to begin one new mission while $25,000 of interest income provides support for a part-time worker to begin a new mission.

Center City Children's Endowment Fund: To provide tuition aid and other needs that expressly further the purpose of Christian education in Center City schools, Central St. Paul, East St. Paul, and Trinity First, Minneapolis. Notable gift landmarks: $5,000 of interest income will provide full tuition support for one student in a Center City school.

Deaf Ministry Endowment Fund: To provide pastoral assistance and worship facilities for the hearing impaired in the Minnesota South District. Notable gift landmarks: $60,000 of interest income will provide for ministry to a new ministry site, $10,000 of interest income will provide for transportation needs for deaf people to attend worship services, and $10,000 of interest income will provide for closed captioned programming for special TV programs.

Student Aid Endowment Fund: To provide assistance for church worker students at our Concordia Universities and Seminaries in order to help defray the cost of education. An endowment fund of $5M would provide interest income of about $1,000 per student to help 300 church worker students with their yearly educational costs.

The Ethnic Ministry Endowment Fund: To provide financial assistance for ministry to ethnic groups, such as Asian, African-American, Hispanic, Hmong, and others, both in the Metro area as well as in urban areas. Such assistance is normally in the form of staff and program help in conjunction with another congregation in the area. Notable gift landmarks: $125,000 of interest income will provide service to one new church to be started, $18,000 of interest income will provide for one student to attend seminary through distance education that leads toward ordination (EIIT–Ethnic Immigrant Institute of Theology), $50,000 of interest income will send one Hmong missionary back to Thailand to plant missions in their homeland of Laos, $10,000 of interest income will provide funding for five lay leaders to receive theological training held at Concordia University, St. Paul (ELTI – Ethnic Leadership Training Institute), $50,000 of interest income will provide for a permanent staff position to begin many new congregations, $250,000 provides for one part-time worker-priest to begin new ethnic congregations.

Professional counseling is provided as needed along with other care initiatives that include conflict resolution, stress management, career guidance, health management, spiritual guidance, and other services as appropriate. An endowment of $2M would provide the income necessary to bring this vision to reality.

Continuing Education Endowment Fund: Provides assistance from a portion of the cost of continuing education for professional church workers in the Minnesota South District. An endowment of $100,000 would provide $5,000 of interest income necessary to support 10 professional church workers per year who desire to strengthen their careers through continuing education.
